The Sidekicks have been a band since the members were 15, quite literally learning how to play
their instruments by playing together. The result has been a musical and personal relationship
that has inevitably transformed over the years, braving lineup and stylistic changes, geographic
relocation, and just plain growing up.
School separated the members, with half the band living in Columbus and the other half in
Cleveland. The Soggy Dog House was started by drummer Matt Climer, and served as a focal
point to both the band and the Cleveland DIY punk scene. They released
in 2009 through Red Scare Records. The band’s newest release,
sees the band coming to terms with the maturation they have endured together,
while stylistically departing from the pop-punk that nurtured them. Favoring a Pinkerton-
esque approach, the band still holds on to the spirit of the DIY punk scene while exploring the
ambitions they’ve discovered throughout their extensive musical relationship.
